The risk when you sell your time and know-how

Your business is you. What happens if you have to stop ?

As a consultant, your income depends on your time, your reputation and your decisions. Three situations can undo years of work. Our three priorities address each one — and for everything else, we handle your other policies too.

A consultant's 3 priorities

Where your exposure is greatest

Priority 1 — Your responsibility

Professional liability & legal defence

An error, an oversight, a misread piece of advice can cost you dearly. Professional liability compensates the harmed client. Legal defence pays the lawyer who defends you. Two complementary covers.

Priority 2 — Your income

Income protection

Illness, accident, hospitalisation: no activity means no invoicing, and the state health fund pays only a flat amount. Three solutions exist to maintain your income and fixed costs while you recover.

Explore priority 2 →
Priority 3 — Your retirement

Supplementary pension

Your statutory self-employed pension will be low. A supplementary pension (PLCI, CPTI, EIP) builds retirement capital while cutting your tax, and often your social contributions, every year.

Car, property, family liability, hospitalisation… we manage the rest of your contracts too. Three priorities to start, a complete file thereafter.

The way we work

We decode, we optimise, we protect

A practice approach, not a sales funnel. You decide with full knowledge of the facts.

01

We decode your business

Status, client contracts, how you pay yourself, commitments: we map your real risks, without jargon.

02

We compare the market

We approach the insurers suited to your profile, dissect cover, limits and exclusions, and keep what truly protects you.

03

We protect over time

Clear contracts, a contact who knows you, and follow-up at every change in your business or in the event of a claim.

Close to you, wherever you are

A local story, a presence across Belgium

Cinassur was born from the collaboration between the Dinant and Ciney offices, joined by a presence in Brussels and Eghezée. Now part of Groupe Finch, we combine the strength of a group with the closeness of teams that answer.

Much of our contact happens remotely: wherever you carry out your assignments, you keep the same adviser and a file managed end to end.

Frequently asked questions

What consultants ask us most

Does an independent consultant need professional liability insurance ?

Except for regulated professions, the law does not always require it. But your clients almost always demand it in engagement contracts: without it, a mistake or poor advice can put your personal assets at risk. In practice, it is often professional liability that unlocks the signature of a contract.

What is the difference between general (operating) and professional liability ?

General (operating) liability — RC exploitation in Belgium — covers extra-contractual damage: harm caused to a third party outside the contract (for example material damage during an assignment). Professional liability covers faults linked to performing your assignment: error, wrong advice, delay, breach. For a consultant the operating risk is low, so general liability is often included cheaply, or even free, within professional liability.

How can I protect my income in case of illness or accident ?

Three solutions combine: personal accident cover (incapacity due to an accident, 24/7), guaranteed income (accident and illness, based on your remuneration) and key-person insurance, or keyman (based on turnover, the benefit going to the company to cover fixed costs). The right mix depends on your status and how you pay yourself.

Why does a consultant need a supplementary pension ?

A self-employed person's statutory pension is low compared with their working income. A supplementary pension (PLCI, CPTI, EIP) lets you build retirement capital while cutting tax and, for the PLCI, social contributions. The earlier you start, the greater the effect.

Why use a broker rather than buying online ?

Cinassur is independent and tied to no insurer. Depending on your profile and needs, we approach the relevant insurers, compare cover and exclusions, and advise in your interest only. In the event of a claim, you have one contact who knows your file and defends it.
